Dandelions Forever!

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

@taiyo post of a dandelion inspired me to post this one. Our camera club was on a field trip to Westport, Washington Saturday and I noticed this guy growing in a bit of dirt near the junction of a pier and the sidewalk along the harbor. I loved the contrast between the rather lovely, if common, plant and the industrial concrete.

Specific Feedback

I deliberately left the candy wrapper in as part of the story here, but I’d be interested in pros and cons.

Technical Details

Sony A7Rv. This was taken using a new AstrHori 28 mm, f/13 probe lens that I was playing with (it’s a fun lens and very comfortable on the Sony body), hence the rather strange perspective. Since it’s manual focus I took a few shots and ended up doing a very small vertical panorama to get both the seed head and the candy wrapper in the frame. There’s no exif data on the f-stop but I suspect I had it stepped down a fair amount to try to get the entire scene in focus. Iso was 2500 and shutter speed was 1/800. Noise reduction with DxO PureRaw 5, processed in LR & PS CC. This was a mid-day shot, hence the rather harsh shadows.

Dennis, i like the range of sharpness thru-out your photograph. Very much a photo of Underfoot.
