Steve,

I really like the light and drama created by the light. Great choice in the b&w without seeing the color. The contrast in the sky/clouds is excellent and I like the silhoutted vegetation.

Most obvious element to comment on would be the main dune in shadow. It occupies a lot of real estate and little to no detail. Yeah, it’s supposed to be dark with the sun behind. Also, left of center in that shadowed dune face, I can’t quite figure out if that is light spilling over or what’s going on because the patterns in that lighter area seem odd.

I do like the detail, light and patterns in the foreground sand. I suppose including more, if it were possible, might help balance out the dark dune face.

Without seeing any original, my only suggestion here would be a little crop off the right since there’s little that is adding to the frame, just darkness.

Thanks for sharing. No doubt a glorious sunrise.

Thanks @Lon_Overacker
Here is the full-color version

I love the color! Maybe pull up a darker gradient from the bottom, angled toward about 1:00?

As always thanks, I look forward to your commitments. @Lon_Overacker was interested in the raw color image this is just out of the camera.
I like your idea I will try it

To say the least, I got carried away this is not an image for Matt’s competition.
Your thoughts, please
