The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
This pond is 10 minutes from the house, so this local resident is around a lot during the year. This time I left the extenders home and moved around very slowly and low in the weeds. I am using the feedback I have been getting on NPN to get better shots of these birds.
You’re lucky to have a pond close by with a willing model. He/she is very handsome especially with a freshly caught fish! Low and slow is always a good approach!
Great action shot with plenty of ruffled water and droplets flying.
The bird seems a little cramped for space and wonder if there is another version with a little more room on top and bottom. I tried a linear gradient from the bottom which gave the bird a bit of a base.
Nice job handling the whites on this image, Dean. I would agree with Glennie that a touch more room would be nice, but this sure shows off the water. I’ve had mixed luck with finding egrets that get up early enough for golden hour light and I don’t know what the trees are like on the sunrise side of this pond, but if it gets early morning sun, you might want to give that a try as well.
Thank you for the feedback, @glennie and @Dennis_Plank I had some room from the crop. The pond is in a open space, so going at sunrise sounds like a great idea
All that water action and the fish tell a nice story. Good look at the egret; sharp eye and nice whites. The added space on the repost does seem to help the image.
Hi Dean, very nice action capture. Love seeing this feeding behavior with the splashing water and visible fish. Nice timing. I think you handled the tough lighting conditions well. Repost looks good with the extra space.
