Hi Dean. I think you meant this to be in Avian since it’s not at all abstract, so I’m moving it there. I love the landing post with the splashes. A couple of things that might make the bird pop more: Bring up the shadows in the bird a bit-not enough to eliminate them, but enough to expose a bit of detail in the deepest shadows. I’d also crop to about half the distance between the bottom and where the legs enter the water. It’s nice to have room for the virtual legs under the water, but all that water below that isn’t adding much to the image and there are a couple of bright spots that draw the eye. You could also do something (healing brush or burning) about the bright dead reed that goes diagonally across the right as it’s also a bit of an eye magnet. With a little bit of tweaking, I think this will be a superb image.

Excellent landing pose and detail. I like what appears to be a fairly low angle. I like the green background of reeds with the reflection in the complementary blue water. Dennis has some good ideas to elevate the image.

Thanks for the feedback @Dennis_Plank and @Allen_Brooks. I applied your suggestions, looks much better. Many thanks

HI Dean
Very nice low angle, the sun really helps bring out the Blues’ coloring.

Thanks, Peter. I’ve been trying to get almost ground level to the lake on these kind of shots. Sometimes there’s a lot of weeds that keep me from doing that.
