Distant Valley

It was a beautiful sunny day as I was driving from Valdez to Anchorage on the Glen Highway and I had to stop and shoot a photo of these well lit, snowy mountains and the valley formed between them. I wanted to get more detail in the valley so I used my 100-400 instead of my wide angle lens. It paid off as you can see the glacier feeding the river at the bottom and all the spruce trees blanketing the slopes.

Technical Details

Sony a6500, FE100400GM @ 100mm (150mm w/crop factor), ISO-100, f/8.0, 1/1000, hand held. Had to step out of the car to take the shot because it was cold & the heat waves exiting the window were causing distortion.

Gary, that’s about as good as it gets. I had to wear my sunglasses to look at this one. This is a spectacular scene. The detail is spot on so the 100-400 was a great choice. The river at the bottom really adds a lot to this composition too. Glad you posted this one.
