Down the Rushy Glen

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I spotted this today and thought it could be suitable for B and W treatment. Rushes and their reflections made striking patterns in a local stream.

Specific Feedback

I decided to go for bold contrast. Perhaps you would prefer a softer look?

Technical Details

D500 + 150-600 (@340mm) 1/640 f8 ISO 1600

Minor cropping and straightening. Denoise. Converted to B and W in PS and adjusted contrast. Then in Nik Silver Efex Pro chose the Wet Rocks filter. Finally added a small vignette in LR.

Mike, you’re right, the pattern is very striking in b&w and your high contrast treatment emphasizes that well. The transition from clean reflection to ripples at the bottom add well to the “story”.
