Description
Went out to my favorite water garden today in search of water lilies but alas none have started to bloom yet. However the dragonflies were pretty active and approachable so I had some fun with them. Got to use the new 200mm macro setup as well as my faithful 70-200 and liked this one from the 100mm + TC combo one of the best. It was pretty breezy so lots of trashed images due to motion blur and poor focus but thank goodness for fast frame rates and the delete button. >=))>
Specific Feedback
Not a perfect subject but close enough, especially this early in the season. Should the relatively bright BG area be toned down?

Oh my! Bill, this is gorgeous. When zoomed in, it’s amazing! The pose of the dragonfly, the perch all work. I don’t mind the vibrancy of the background. You could try another version with the background toned down, just to consider.
Oh what a dandy! Nice diagonals and contrast in colors and textures. The bright bit in the bg could use a bit less brightness, but only because the body of the df is so light. If it was dark, it would serve better being light. Then I’d take a look at the thorax and see if you’ve brought out all the detail you caught. Have seen one df up this way so far, but that’s about it.
Bill, this is a great look at this Blue Dasher, enhanced nicely by his perch. It’s interesting that his wing tips are a bit warn…seems very early in the season, but your seasons are quite different from ours. I like the hints of iridescence in his wings. Nice job getting his entire bocy sharp.
