The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
As things in southern AZ start cooling down, only 100 today, the dragonflies are coming around. There is a nice size pond about 10 minutes away. I was trying to get these guys in flight, but a few posed for me.
Specific Feedback
Not sure the DOF is very good.
Technical Details
Canon r5ii RF 200-800 with 1.4 extender. 1100mm at f/13 on a tripod.

These are very difficult to capture and you have produced an excellent photo. Pose is good and the head and body are nice and crisp. Blue BG is different, but it shows off the yellows and browns nicely. I would try to enhance the sharpness of the tip of the abdomen as it is on the edge of the DOF. Well done and worth going out to the pond…Jim
Dean: I like the perch and pose and you have great sharpness on the eye and head which is critical for me. The square crop doesn’t work real well for me with all that negative space on the left. Cropping this to about 4x5 works better for me. Back to you. >=))>
Thanks for the feedback, @Bill_Fach , @Russell_Carpenter , and @Jim_Zablotny . I took you suggestions. I use Topaz AI super sharp on the abdomen only and remove the vignette. Update posted
Dean, this is a fine look at this dragonfly showing off the “Obelisk” pose, that is used to shade the head and thorax. The head, thorax and most of the abdomen are nicely sharp. The perch looks good as well. The slightly soft tip of the abdomen isn’t noticeable until you scan carefully the large view. The vertical crop fits the pose very well.
Very nice look at this DF, Dean. I like the repost. The framing better fits the subject and it’s perch. I like photographing DF’s but I have not took a photo of one this year. Been so busy, then it got hot here for being outside, then I went away for over a month. Catching up on what needs to be done now. Maybe they will still be around. Nice shot.
