Two very beautiful small-in-the-frame images of a Great Blue Heron, Peter. I’m particularly fond of the first one with the softer tones. I’m very glad you didn’t crop it to death as I think it tells a much better story with all the room. The only thing I might do on that first one is to dab a touch more light on the heron’s face and then even a bit more on the eye to give the viewer a bit of an extra anchor.

Like @Dennis_Plank, I really like the first one, although both are great environmental images. I actually think both images could use a bit of brightening…although it might be my monitor…Nice to see these images, Peter.

I really like the first one, Peter. The river with the reflected grass, the overall environment and composition, and the eye level look at the heron.

I also like the first one because of the composition and the environments. Very nice look at this habitat. A good story.

I like the fact that you left some environment with these frames Peter. Nice compositions and nice overall balance to them. The lighting is actually very good from my perspective to portray a nice morning in the marsh.

Two very nice GBH images, Peter. I like the muted colours and crop in the first one. The heron itself might use a bit more sharpening - the largest view is a little soft.
The second one is very sharp, and the creek and grasses add a lot.
Great catches!

Hi Dennis, David Bostock, Allen, David Schoen, Ed & Sandy
Thank for your kind words. Here is a repost, I re-touched the Blue and increased the overall exposure some. Sandy the Blue was around 15ft behind the river front and the DOF just did not cover the green on the river front.
