Early signs of spring?

There isn’t anything special about this image at least from an artistic point of view. Technically, this is a handheld shot at 1000 mm equivalent as close as the lens will allow me to get. Full frame, iso-51,500! Not a misprint…

Nice, David. I like the angle you got on it and the way you cropped this. More depth would have been nice, but if you can’t get it at f/14, you’re not going to get it.

David: :scream: regarding your settings! I’m impressed that there’s no noise. I like the color palette and the detail on the buds is terrific. Hand holding a 500mm lens sounds like a weight lifting exercise to me. Nicely done.>=))>

As Bill mentioned, I like the colors and feel of this image. Really nice background to compliment the buds and stalk. Amazing how low noise this is at that ISO - nice processing. I agree with Dennis on the DOF.

The new Nikon AF-S 500mm f5.6 PF VR weighs just over 3 lbs and a few ounces more with the 1.4 extender. So with a crop sensor, one has 1000mm. Just under 5 lbs with D500 sans battery grip but including lens and extender. Rumor has it Canon has a similar lens in the works. It’s great for us grey beard geezers.

David, this is a fine look at these willow buds, that definitely says spring is coming. The lack of noise at such high iso in the background is amazing. I’m not sure if it’s on my end or your end, but there is some moire fringing in the background, that might be interesting as a photoart treatment if you can enhance it.
