A really nice job of getting the Towhee in focus and properly exposed, Eddie. The steep angle upward and that large foreground perch are unfortunate, but I think you did well with the opportunity given.
A Towhee in a tree?! Good catch! Our western ones always seem to stay on the ground. Wonderful sharpness and an engaging look toward the viewer. I wondered about bringing up the shadows a bit and gave it a try – just pulling the Shadows and Highlights sliders all the way with the Camera Raw filter in PS – better results would be obtained on the raw file.
When I opened it in PS I saw that there is no embedded color profile. Even though it appears to be in sRGB, as it should be, with no profile, some browsers will display images in the monitor’s color profile, which can give very unintended colors. Others will assume sRGB.
While I was playing, I did a little cleanup – don’t know if that is against your ethics but it’s such a lovely portrait I felt it was worth putting all the emphasis on the bird.
I can see where this was challenging Eduard but I think you made the most of what was presented to you. The colors look very accurate compared to the ones I’ve seen and I do like the upward view you were given. The Y-shaped limb he was on makes a perfect stage, balancing the overall composition.
