Eastern Towhee

Saw this bird at Long Run Park, eastern Jefferson Co, Kentucky. I wonder if the noise is too much?
Thanks for looking and hopefully commenting!

Nice pose, Jim. While the background is pretty busy-I actually like the looks of it. Kind of like the patterns you sometimes see in rocks. The bird seems a bit centered for my taste-I think you could trim about half the distance between the tail and side off and maybe come up just above the branch with the bud on it. It looks cool, but it competes a bit with the bird. There doesn’t seem to be much detail in the bird’s plumage and I don’t know if that’s the raw image or processing, but it ended up looking like a painting instead of a photograph-not necessarily a bad thing, but only if you intend it that way. I suspect your AF picked up on the branch instead of the bird.

Good job getting this guy in the open. The species we have up here is very shy.

Definitely tough to get these guys out in the open. I don’t think I have any decent towhee photos. I like the setting and concept, though the BG is on the busy side, and I’d prefer less merging of the branches. The BG does have a kind of painterly feel to it.

But it looks to me like something has gone awry in post. The head and wing of the bird look crunchy and lack fine details but the breast appears soft and smooth. You also have some cloning artifacts to the left of the bird’s head. And, yes, the image is pretty noisy.

Thanks Lyle for the input. The day I took those photos was not good weather wise, very bad lighting. Don’t know when I’ll ever see one again though. LOL
