Egret and Heron in flight

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I’ve been seeing great egrets and great blue herons very early in the morning at the state park pond. Here are a couple I saw last week flying over the pond.

Specific Feedback

In the first image, the egret is flying in front a stand of goldenrod. Do you think the BG complements the scene or just detracts?

Would these images be keepers for you?

Hi Allen
The goldenrod works well the early morning sun, it would be nice to get more detail on the far wing. Yes these are keepers, my order is Blue 1, Egret 2. Nice work.
Peter

Beautiful light in both of these, Allen and the birds both have very nice wing positions. Excellent work.

Allen - sweet flight images of these two. Sharp and nice environment.

The egret BG is fine, although it might be better a little more blurred. The top of the egret has some blue-ish spots that might be dampened a bit.

The GBH is great as is - lovely flight position, and nice reflection.
Definitely keepers!

I like bird in flight shots, like these, that show the environment. Both look great. Excellent detail in the egret’s near wing and the heron gliding over the water creates a pleasing mood. You certainly have a treasure in this pond of yours.
