Eizo built-in calibration vs 3rd party external device

I have an Eizo ColorEdge monitor with the built-in calibration device and it does seem to work well. But I have a question. In the past I have used some of the popular calibration devices and when calibrating the screen they displayed a whole lot more color blocks than the seemingly few that the Eizo process displays.

Will one of the 3rd party devices produce a better profile than the built-in Eizo? It just seems like it does not display very many color blocks to do the calibration.

All thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks,
Bill

I use an X-rite i1 DISPLAY profiler and it works perfectly with the Eizo monitors. The internal LUT table is key for this type of monitor and you will need to determine whether other types of display calibration systems will be able to write to the internal LUT table of the monitor. The profiles generated by Eizo are nearly perfect and their system works quite well. I use ColorNavigator 7 with the X-rite sensor and have experienced no issues with the profiles generated. The problem with more colors is that RGB has to be perfect initially. The algorithm uses a perfect RGB array for generating all of the colors in the chosen color profile used by the device. …Jim
