When I read the theme for this week, I immediately think of the evergreens in the Pacific Northwest. I thought of @Ed_McGuirk and his magical foggy Fall scenes from the Northeast when I shot this.
Thank you for your kind words Adhika, I appreciate it. I tend to like images that have both simplicity and strong emotional impact at the same time. This image certainly achieves that for me.
I think the strong blue cast works very well here, and creates emotion, and and a sense of mystery. I also like how you spaced out the three distinct areas in the scene, fog, treeline, and deep shadow at the bottom. This is a wonderful moody image.
Adhika, this is nicely foggy and blue. Personally, I would reduce the blue a bit, but that’s clearly an artistic decision. The distribution of the tree tops and their disappearance into the fog look very good here, while the sense of quiet mystery is strong.
I love the foggy view of the trees and the mood it creates. It is totally a personal preference, but I am finding it way too blue. I pulled it into PS and backed off the blue and cyan a lot and much prefer it, but as said, all personal. I find it a real good overall image.
On hindsight, yes, maybe it has gone a little bit too blue. I have added a version of the image with less blue on the original. It gives the disappearance of being brighter but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
This is a very moody scene, Adhika. The heavy fog certainly creates an air of mystery here; makes one wonder what lies behind the veil. This is a matter of personal taste, but I could see the blues reduced a little more. Either way I think this is wonderful.
Adhika , while I liked the original version, I think the lighter rework is more likely to be appreciated by more viewers. To me the original has a gloomy, dark mood, and the lighter mood of the rework is more optimistic. Each can have their own purpose, depending on their intent. I could see the first one being sucessfull in a collection of dark and somber landscapes. The intent is up to you.
My own style for foggy images leans to the brighter end of the scale. But you are so accomplished a photographer, i assumed you intentionally went for the darker mood in the first image. I do not believe one is necessarily or worse than the other. They both work really well for me, albeit they would have different intents.
