This is a very large cactus flower I saw yesterday. There’s nothing understated about these things. This one prompted an emotional response, which accounts for my title.

I can certainly understand your title, Don. Those colors are just pulsing with energy. I like your composition, but I’d also love to see one with the flower a bit lower in the frame to allow room for all the energy shooting up from it.

Oh it’s a beauty with all that detail, too. Colors look great. The focus fall off looks natural and the tight framing works well.

Gorgeous – and the perfect title! Detail and DOF are fantastic, as is the composition. No suggestions except celebrate the capture!! I could see a cactus flower wall.

Cactus bloom are definitely not understated and they possess an almost magical sense that they are lit from within. You have perfectly captured the essence of that magic light here! Well done!
