Pertinent technical details or techniques:

I am still enjoying the contrast of in and out of focus areas. I was attracted to the light coming through to the underside, but I wanted to show some of the top of this mushroom as well. Unfortunately at the time I didn’t see the “heart” at the upper left 3rd to get it in sharper focus, but this was still one of my favorites. 90mm macro, handheld on the ground. These only grow when my grass is a bit long.

Karla, the details and the glow of the backlight in the gills stand out well. The oof areas, both bright and dark add interest. The pano crop fits the subject and adds to the nice side-to-side eye movement while viewing.

I love the backlight in this image, Karla. Not something I get to see often with mushrooms. In scrolling this on my screen I liked it even more with the top cropped down to eliminate the upper background completely.

@Mark_Seaver and @Dennis_Plank - Thank you both for the comments. Perhaps the uncommon backlight is because this was in open sun in my yard rather than a wooded area. It definitely attracted me to photograph this and it was easy to see due to the uptick in the edge. I can see where the dark background at the top might be distracting though.
