Feeding Black-necked Stilt

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Another image from my archive. This was taken a couple of years back. The stilt was going back and forth actively feeding in the shallow waters.

Specific Feedback

Any/all.

Technical Details

840mm, 1/2000s@F7.1, ISO800. Toned down and cloned out a couple of bright and dark spots in the background that seemed distracting. Cropped by about 20% and processed for the web.

Very nice eye-level shot. Good action pose. Nice reflections in the water.

For my money the stilts are the most elegant birds I’ve encountered and this image shows that very well, Govind. No suggestions from me on the bird. I don’t mind removing and cloning,s o I’d probably get rid of the brighter stuff in the background and maybe green up the grayer smudged looking areas above the bird.

Beautiful bird with excellent detail, great pose and true colors, and even some reflection. Really nice work!

An elegant bird with a nice soft reflection. The colour combination is quite amazing.

I wonder if there is another version with the background greens tamed a little?

Hi Govind, really great pose - love seeing the feeding action with reflection. Details and exposure look good too. I like this version composition wise even though trying some alternatives on the BG as others have suggested may be worth a look. Nice catch.

Nice catch and detail, but i agree on the BG – I would tame the greens (which may be yellows) a bit, and remove the two gray vertical stems.
