Finally!

I go on frequent walks with my camera and see great trees and flowers that would be perfect for a bird or butterfly. Finally some cooperation. Swallowtail on wild sweet peas.

Hi Allen,

You captured some nice details on this swallowtail. The lighting is very bright producing lots of contrast. The large version shows some details in the shadows. It is very difficult to get the entire butterfly in one plane of focus without sacrificing the soft BG. The tip of the right forewing is slightly OOF, but just a very minor nit. Well done as swallowtails usually do not play nice when getting their picture taken…Jim

Beautiful Swallowtail. They are usually pretty beat up this time of year, but she is near perfect. Nice combination of colors augmented by a good dof. Good work.

Allen, she is a beauty. I’m so glad she posed for you. They aren’t so good at doing that, as @Jim_Zablotny mentioned. The flowers she is on are a pretty color as well. Nicely done.
