The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Sometimes when I am out photographing the natural world something catches my eye and when I stop to check it out it is not always readily apparent what originally piqued my interest. After spending a few minutes in the rain and trying to figure out what it was that I subconsciously noticed I just decided to press the shutter and capture an image of the larger scene. After arriving home I let it ferment for a few days before getting back to it and then I noticed what it was right away. This post is the area that triggered my original interest and is a substantial crop from the original raw file. This is from a recent day trip to Blackwater Falls SP, WV for some autumn color
Specific Feedback
I really enjoyed the combination of warm toned red leaves against the cool blue tones of the BG canyon wall. Do they work for you? Anything else you notice please feel free to mention it.

You definitely found the order in this image, Ed. Terrific composition/crop showcasing a mosaic of colors, textures and shapes. The branches seem to have order even though there is near total chaos in this scene. The colors are beautiful made even more beautiful by the blue backdrop and the soft contrast.
There is a green/yellow section of leaves in the bottom left corner that sort of catches the eye but it’s also an outlier so you may want to keep it just for that. Other than that, I’ve got nothing for you in ways to improve this image. Glad you were able to figure this one out. I’ve done the same thing before where I have a wide angle lens on and I’ll shoot a scene knowing that I need to crop substantially in post because I had the wrong lens on for the shot. Most of the time I forget about those images because when I’m scrolling through them I think to myself, why the hell did I take that image.
A big yes! This definitely works of me, Ed. I love the colour in this image and how the warmer yellows and reds pop out against that cool background. Really well seen and beautifully executed.
Ed: Frame filling fantastic IMO. One thing that caught my eye immediately was the relative uniformity of the concentration of the leaves. It keeps me from fixating on any particular part of the frame and lets me explore the entire image. Top notch shot. >=))>
Many thanks guys @David_Haynes, @Tom_Nevesely and @Bill_Fach for your thoughts on this image; always appreciated. It took me a while to find the sweet spot in the original image, but I did eventually get there. @David_Haynes : I hear you on why the hell did I shoot that image. Thanks for picking up on those couple of yellow leaves as I missed that. I have cloned them out on the psd file and it does look better.
I knew this was yours before I opened it. You have a “style” that’s easy to identify but I don’t mean that in a negative way. This one is quite lovely. The muted but still colorful leaves, the atmosphere, the tangle of limbs…all work in harmony here. Every time I see an image like this online I just wish I could see a large print because there would be so much to explore. Keep 'em coming, @Ed_Lowe!
Hi Bret,
Thanks for taking the time to leave your thoughts on this image as it is always appreciated. I appreciate the kind words. I have at least one more of these intimate woodland scenes to share.
