Cool group of this behavior that seems to be common to all the “water” birds, Allen. This demonstrates a nice spread over the class. I think you could bring up the whites a bit, particularly in the Merganser.

Very interesting set of images, Allen. I enjoyed seeing the dynamic poses in all three images. There seem to be a little noise in the last image (loon). Should be an easy cleanup.

Cool catches. I love getting shots like this, but I don’t think I have done as good a job as you have here. They are all energetic and show off the individuality of each species. Looks like the blacks might be a little clenched in the Hoodie shot, but it doesn’t look bad, just a bit unbalance for the comp. But what can you do…they don’t take direction. Great sharpness in the eye and plumage on that one…great eye contact, too.

Nice series Allen of some great water birds. Love the facing look of the merganser with that bright eye. Motion blur in the wings of the merganser and the loon work for me too. Dynamic poses on all these.
