Description

This cute guy or gal came to a perch near the feeders to hunt for bugs in the grass below. I was lucky enough to be there and got a nice view.

Shot as a horizontal and cropped from the sides – full frame vertically. Minimal global tonal tweaks in LR and into PS for denoise and removal of part of the perch setup from the bottom and some darkening there. Otherwise nothing else done. No sharpening except the default in Topaz Denoise Low Light mode.

What a cute little baby, Diane. You really captured excellent details in his feathers. Nice BG to make the little guy stand out. The perch is perfect. I can’t think of a thing to improve this shot.

What a pleasant image Diane. I really like the detail you got in the feathers, the colors are wonderful, the BG is very complementary, and it has a nice clean look overall.

Great photo! I love the wing primaries and the tail feathers - so crisp and clean with those light edges. Won’t last long that way, but it’s nice to see such a shiny, new bird. Love its slightly melancholy air - as if it realized its not going to be waited on much longer. Excellent composition and background, too. Amazing how easy it is to shoot at these higher ISOs without compromise.

Beautiful condition in this youngster, Diane, and a lovely pose and background. Simple and elegant presentation.

Beautiful. “Simple and elegant” to quote and agree with Dennis.

Excellent portrait of this young bird. The feather detail is exquisite and the BG quite complimentary. Nice head turn too. Well done!

Thanks, @Shirley_Freeman, @Ed_Williams, @Kris_Smith, @Dennis_Plank, @Jim_Gavin and @Allen_Sparks! I nearly passed out when this gorgeous little guy landed on a perch for a few seconds. Bluebirds don’t come to the feeders but will sometimes use the perches to look for bugs on the ground.

Excellent in all aspects! Not the tiniest nit from me…

Thanks, @SandyR-B. There are quite a few hungry-looking youngsters around now. And I just did some checking and found a bird is only a fledgling until it leaves the nest. So this should be called a juvenile.
