Flow

Image Description

A week ago was this year’s photo walk along the Miller Peninsula beach in WA looking for lichen/driftwood abstracts. I like the colors in this, but when the weekly challenge forced me to move the color sliders to bring it out as a BW, I was amazed how much purple was in the log. Also enjoyed how the BW abstracted it to look like water flowing around a rock, rather than tree grain around a knothole.

Feedback Requests

I softened the clarity for this BW version, to enhance the impression of flowing water. With more clarity, the subject is clearly a log. Your thoughts?

I really needed to think about this one because I looked at it before reading your description. Indeed I did first think about water flowing around a rock…and then I looked again, and read the description. Very nice

Dick: I immediately saw this as driftwood but your rendering of it is just superb. Flow is a n apt title for sure. Well seen, captured and presented.>=))>

Dick, while it’s clearly a knot in a log when looking carefully, the impression of it being a stone in a stream was what first came to mind. Your processing looks good. The image was a bit slow to load, because of how large the file is. The NPN recommendation is 2000 pixels on the long axis.

Thanks - I updated my NPN export parameters to be Max file size 1.5 MB from 2.0, 2000 pixels on long edge (NPNs reccc)

I see when submitting to Weekly challenge that 1500 on long edge is mentioned - not a min or max. “JPEG at 1500px on the longest edge with image quality of 6 or 60”
I see in the FAQs “The recommended minimum is 1500px on the long edge”, with 2000 recommended (but no max). Asks for 100mb max.

Perhaps the quidelines should use the same verbiage.
