Fly Me to the Moon

What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Any pertinent technical details:

Any and all feedback is welcome. I caught this yesterday when a storm ended in the SF Bay Area and the moon rose over the lovely soft clouds. Would love feedback on the processing. It is a rather unusual comp.

Canon 5dM3, IS0800, 84 mm, f/16, 1/400 sec. Processed in LR and PS, plus Luminosity Masks.

Simple, elegant and engaging composition, Kathy. I like the choice of B&W as it further simplifies the image. Doing some screen crops I think I would prefer a tighter crop, taking some off the bottom and a bit off the left side. In any even, I would darken the lowest bank of clouds.

Kathy,

Wonderful! For me, this epitomizes the phrase, “capturing moments in time.” This image will never occur again. Love everything about this, from the moon peeking out above the clouds, the clouds themselves and of course the turkey vultures soaring freely. (Can’t say I’ve ever used the word beautiful at the same time turkey vultures were mentioned…)

Also, I feel a connection to this image because this is the same storm that I was photographing… I’m sure not the same clouds, but the same system. It was quite an experience to be out photographing this day.

No suggestions. Oh, and processing is excellent. I think your tonal range for the sky is just right.

Beautiful! A perfect capture of the line of the moon and the two birds. Great processing on the clouds!

Simple and powerful image, beautiful rendering of the clouds and the moon… Very evocative.

Kathy, this is truly a work of art, it’s so clean, crisp and simple. The choice to convert to B&W adds even more drama to the image. Simply wonderful.
