Flying water, Emigrant Creek (3 views)

It’s near peak runoff in Montana. A visit to a local creek was great fun, but hard on my ears with the constant roar as it raced down the mountain. I thought trying to just get some splashing action might be fun. Here are 3 catches at shutter speeds chosen to do some blurring while showing the action. (R5, 100-400 @ 100, f/18, iso 400, ss between 1/6 s and 1/15 s, tripod, 4 stop ND filter)

These are really neat. The second one just has something “more” that I can’t put my finger on, but it is the best of the 3, IMO!

I, too, prefer 2. It comes right at the viewer.

Mark,

Great series - no doubt about the roar you got to experience - I can hear it. But most certainly you’ve captured the action and the sound in implied!

I too prefer the 2nd, most because the splash is coming right at you! I like the splash and motion of the first, but am wishing there was more - or less of the keyhole view to the bg. In 2 &3 I like the added depth and context the partial tunnel provides.

Great fun, thanks for sharing.
