Fox Kits at Play

A fun moment at the very end of the day during one of my local fox tours here in western Washington. These kits put on quite a show, and the female kit (right) was particularly active, hounding her male siblings non-stop over the course of a couple hours.

Max, the lighting is very dreamy, which works well with the foxes playing. The subtle clouds of dust on the right and under her feet add well to the story.

Great light, really well composed with the stop action and a very playful image too. Works for me all around.

Thanks guys. I’m glad you mentioned the dust, Mark. I think in terms of composition it normally feels more appropriate to leave more room in front of a profiled subject to lead the eye onward, but in certain cases the “aftermath” of the movement helps tell the story just as or more effectively. Sometimes with dust clouds or splashes (from a bird taking off, for example), I find that leaving more room behind the subject works well.

Just awesome. Well done!
