Foxglove

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Our local park has a fine line of foxgloves. I was pleased this morning when a gardener came and watered them, and thought this flower in particular looked rather smart after being hosed.

Specific Feedback

I don’t mind that it’s centered - how about you?

Technical Details

OM-1 + 60mm macro 1/800 f6.3 ISO 200 - 13 shots stacked in Zerene.

LR tonal adjustments, Denoise; then Highlights and minor Curves in PS. Straightened the flower, then a little cropping.

Mike, since the surrounding flowers are reasonably symmetric, having the subject centered works well. The vertical shape does provide a bit of motion to the viewing. The “rain” makes a fine addition with the shape mimicry between the drops and the spots in the flower looking good.

Mike: I find foxgloves tough to shoot because of cropping and framing considerations but I think you did well here. The drops hep to keep the attention on the main subject and your exposure and presentation are spot on. Nicely done. >=))>
