Image Description
This is from eight years ago as we don’t get all that much frost and ice around here and this phenomenon is rare even then. I posted some other images from this back then, but was looking for something and liked the way the “feathers” were sandwiched between the drips (which were frozen as well).

Is the “sandwich” effective?
I did a lot of processing, all simple slider work, to bring out the feather texture. Too much?

Dennis, this is pretty darn neat. First impression it looked like a reflection on a pond or lake with a grove or stand of trees being reflected here. I think the watery blue adds to that feeling a bit. Again, very different…
btw: not sure you saw my last week WC of the small cactus.? It was a very small version of the same vintage you tried to Google ID for me awhile back. This time I tried your idea and it was a 72% positive return. I’ll keep your idea in mind for future unknows I come across out there.

Dennis, this is an interesting mix of frozen drops with trails and feathered ice. There are some fine ice feathers throughout the center portion. I wonder about adding some contrast in those areas to let the feathers play a stronger role. I think the blue tone works well.

Yeah, I agree that this is pretty darn neat. I was always under the assumption that the images that we posted in weekly challenge had to be natural. But I suppose I’m wrong. Doesn’t matter this is still pretty cool. The ice patterns and contrast with the drips on the windshield really make this a Pleasing image.
I like the sandwich effect a lot, Dennis. Like Paul said, it gives the image an impression of a reflection of trees at the top in water at the bottom. The fact that it’s all ice and frost texture makes it really interesting and a unique take on a compositional genre.

What a gorgeous find!! Maybe it formed on glass but the ice formation itself is completely natural, in my book. The fact that it formed in a transparent surface gives a unique look into its structure, which I think increases its interest.
