One cold January day I was taking my Golden Retriever for a walk. I saw these leaves frozen in the water in the ditch along the road. This was in South Carolina, and even in January it normally doesn’t get cold enough to freeze water. The only camera I had with me was my iPhone 6, so I snapped a photo and went on home. When I loaded the image on my computer I was surprised to see the blue color of the frozen water reflecting the blue sky. As I looked deeper into the photo I could detect a dog’s face and a man’s legs with shoes. See if you can find these items.

Hi @roger1, Welcome! I really like this image. Very well seen. For me I like the slightly warmer leaves of the second version, but the deeper blue of the first… But either way it is nicely effective. I look forward to more great finds!
Roger, welcome to NPN and the Weekly Challenge. This is a great “ice” photo with it’s mix of fallen leaves and thin, textured ice. The two versions are interesting, because the first one “feels” right, while the second one has more “pop”, maybe even slightly too much for my tastes…but that’s an artistic decision.
Roger, great shot. Always good to have any camera with you. Although I have to admit, being out with my dog does make it harder for me to find something to shoot. This was a nice find. It’s nice to have a good surprise when taking a closer look in the computer. I like the simple contrast between the blues of the ice and brown/yellows of the leaves, without other distracting colors. I also like how the leaves around the outside “frame” the ice. nICEly done
Welcome to NPN! I live in an area that doesn’t get much ice, so I understand why you would be happy to find this gem. I really like the textures and complimentary colors in this nicely composed image. I prefer the bottom image that is lighter and brighter.
