Here is another view of a different spider taken at the gardens with a slightly different angle.

What pretty girls! Nice job with the focus and the flash. See what I mean about the patterns breaking up the spider’s silhouette? Classic orb weaver. I haven’t seen one of these in ages. The first looks a smidge dark to me, but is so interesting that she is posed in her classic way and with lunch. The second angle isn’t seen so much and is also pleasing.

Great finds, Allen. So glad you have been able to visit the botanical gardens. Both are very nice shots. I think it is always a plus (not for the prey), to capture an image with it’s meal.

Wonderful captures – for you both! The first is classic and I love both, but I think I prefer the second for being more unusual. I like that both ends of the zigzag support are sharp. A little cleanup on the two left corners could make this a prize!
