Preston, this one fits the WC theme perfectly. Has a look of a aerial view of islands or maybe even a galaxy perspective overall. The image & BG works very nicely as it’s presented here… :+1:

The background works fine for me, Preston. I like the array of bubbles, though I wish you’d had one more to put something in the upper right. It’s always difficult to find a composition in something like this with a more or less random array of elements and this one is quite nice.

Preston: Great title and a fine capture and presentation. I especially like the color palette and the arrangement of the bubbles in the frame. Well seen. >=))>

Preston, this is a fine collection of bubbles under ice. When I look at the large view, I see touches of magenta in several of the bubbles. Viewing this through a polarizer is likely to have shown you Birefringence in a number of these bubbles.

I really love this picture. The bubbles look etheral and like from a different world. I love the dark background as it emphasizes the bubbles and give them more presence and depth. The only thing that bothers me a little is the tiny bubbles in the lower left. They are too small the add to the picture and seem disconnected from the rest. So I would maybe darken that corner to hide these. This is just my sense. Wonderful image.

Hi Preston,
I like the variations in the bubbles. A cut and paste of the bubble at the middle top to the right corner might be enough to address Dennis’ comment there.

I think I know why you asked about the background tonality. I had to think about for a day. On one hand, it’s very realistic: green, pond scum colors, somewhat murky. On the other hand, there is a texture to it that could resemble digital noise. I know it’s not. I’m sure it’s silt, etc.

For the sake of playing, it might be interesting to dry to adjust the colors there or the texture of the background. Maybe a more saturated background would be interesting? Or a shift in color temp? Maybe just a smoothed texture?

Or you could keep it as is, since it is quite nice as presented.

I love the tonality of the BG – and everything else about this!! The texture is just astonishing! The lower frequency detail in the LL is very interesting. What feels a bit empty in the UR corner is, for me, not so much the absence of a bubble there as the more even texture. I wonder if some graduated darkening (vignette) would give a little fill in that corner. The visual line of bubbles leads there but there isn’t much difference to discover. The bubbles themselves are wonderful, as is the composition!
