GBH Hunting

Shot this recently at a local park. I think this is full frame, and I don’t believe I did anything to it besides convert it to jpg.

Excellent detail, Lyle, and an interesting angle. To my eye, this seems a little oversaturated and or contrasty, but it could be accurate. You might want to try alternate crops on this one. The way the butt and legs are cut off looks almost accidental rather than a purposeful composition. I think if you cropped just forward of the legs and possibly added a touch of canvas to the bottom, you’d end up with a more powerful composition. The reason I suggest more canvas at the bottom is that the heron is obviously concentrating its attention downward and it needs somewhere for that latent energy to expend itself.

A really good image and I think a little tweaking will make it excellent.

Excellent suggestions. I meant to fix that electric blue BG before posting and forgot!
