I always wanted to get a shot like this. I like the subject but am not to happy with the background.

Wow! I have always wanted to get a shot like that too…
What don’t you like about the background? It may be a tad bright but I love the colours. The trout is nicely framed against the blue water so that works too. The stripe effect is unusual which I think makes it interesting. You may be able to loosen the crop a bit as the bird is quite tight in the frame.
Again great photo…I cannot take my eyes of their eyes!

Excellent, Jorgen. I love the wing position, which feels unusual and therefore interesting to me. While I could see why you might prefer a different background, I don’t find this one disagreeable. I do think a bit more canvas on both sides and maybe all around would be nice-it’s going to bang those wings up when it flaps.

Hi Jorgen
This shot is always on my photograph list when I see Osprey flying. Every this looks good, (detail, eye contact, feather coloring) and the background could be helped by opening up the shot.

Thanks Peter.

Thanks Robena, good point about the crop.

Superb action image. Great wing position and head turn. The trout is really excited.

An amazing photo and wonderful action. I am good with the background as it tells part of the story. You timed that one right on.

Getting this shot with the bird and fish coming at you is fantastic. Good eye(s) contact and detail. Agree with the tightness issue. The background works for me-it shows the environment and sure beats a blue sky. I guess you could play around with it a bit-see if some darkening or blue desaturation would make a difference, but pretty good as is. Well captured.
