Great Blue Skimmer

Here’s an old, beat up female Great Blue Skimmer (Libellula vibrans) hanging out by my pond last summer.

A lovely image of this Blue Skimmer, Mark. Very nice details. I like the way the perch and the dragonfly are parallel. The background makes him stand out nicely. I miss seeing them around.

Hi Mark,

Sadly she is at the end of her life. I think that you did a good job using a shallow DOF to capture the essential features and preserve the OOF BG. Shadows have plenty of detail and I have no nits for you. Well done…Jim

A very nice subject well captured and presented. Love the oof background, details and colors. Diagonal composition works very well. Both head and tail are in the same plane of focus. dof just adequate. an excellent image overall.

Mark: Love the perch, BG and weathered and worn Skimmer. A terrific find and capture. >=))>
