I was glad to get an opportunity to photograph this species. Not overly crazy about the perch though. It did pose where I could get a nice background. Seen at a local NWR.

The details in the DF and it’s perch are good, Allen. These skimmers seem to like solid perches, so this perch looks quite “normal” to me. The dark colored body lacking blue, the eye color, and the expanded abdomen end show this to be a female.
Allen, the details in this little skimmer is really nice. I have no problem with the perch, as Mark said, it is the kind of places they like to perch, so it looks normal. You did a wonderful job on the background. I am still working on that, after all these years. I get so excited about the subject. Nicely done.
Allen: The perch works great for me. The entire image looks about a half stop or so underexposed to me but everything else looks terrific. >=))>
