Great Egret at first light

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I finally made it to the local rookery this morning. It was very clear so I didn’t get the soft light I prefer, but this guy came in from the hardware store just in time.

Specific Feedback

All comments welcome! I’m not wild about the shadows here but not a lot can be done about it.

Lovely light here, Diane. Shadows don’t bother me at all. I like the straight overhead view and the Hardware is such an added nicety. Well done.

Beautiful light, Diane and I always like the view from beneath in these situations.

Very nice, Diane. No suggestions.

Thanks, @David_Bostock, @Dennis_Plank and @Don_Peters! I got a couple more this day maybe worth posting and hope to have a little more success this year. I haven’t spent enough time out there the last few years.

HI Diane, interesting perspective with the outstretched wings and the branch in the beak. Nice details in the shadows. Cool catch.

Unusual view of the egret Diane. You can see his little beady yellow, glass button eyes! I love seeing the wing structure showing where all the feathers are attached.

The early light is wonderful. Catching the bird with hardware is the icing on the cake.

Hi Diane
I like the warn morning sun light, it helps bring out the Egrets feather details. The stick just tops the photograph off.

Thanks, @glennie and @Peter_Morrissey! And what a great description of their eyes!
