Image Description
I was drawn to the minimalist, comical, almost abstract posing of these seals as they tried to stay on their sandbar as long as possible while the tide came in. For me, the B&W processing, with a decent amount of contrast, seemed to draw out these qualities best.

Specific Feedback
Any feedback welcome. Some questions I have for a viewer would be:
– Does the contrasty, B&W processing appeal to you/work for you in this case?
– Is the shallow depth of field, and the somewhat out-of-focus seal on the right, a distraction?
– Where’s the 5th seal’s head? (Answer–hidden, not removed :))

OMG how fun! I have the feeling of exuberance and playfulness and maybe just a bit of mischief - as if one of them will duck another under at any moment. If they could take their eyes off of whatever has their attention that is. Their are more tails than heads though so…
Anything that makes me smile was definitely worth looking at. As this one does, Art. I wieder what they are looking at and it never came to my mind to count the heads and tails I wonder to what extent you brightened up the heads and I wonder what happened if you had darkened the heads a hair, but it works the way it does, it brightened up my day, so mission accomplished. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks. The two brighter heads belonged to more silver-colored seals, but the difference in brightness increased with general processing. Modified as you and Jagdeep suggest, I do like the more even tones across the image. Appreciate the comments.
Yes, this is one to elicit a big smile! My personal preference would be for lower contrast but in this case the higher contrast works for the humorous image. Well seen and presented!
@Art_Jankowski a small suggestion here, while posting the modified image, it’s better if you retain the first image and post second image, that way other photographers may be able to learn and appreciate the improvements.
Thanks!
All this needs is to tweak down the brightness of the selected areas of the seals and you are good to go. Poses are great and I always enjoy pictures of seals…Jim
