Haunted Cypress

Image(s)

Image Description

The late afternoon winter light created these shadowy pockets on the bald cypress truck. I did need to clone out a few other trucks that were bleeding into the frame. But the harsh side light created these great, dark shadows.

Patrick,

Nice use of negative space to highlight the trunk and its texture.

Gorgeous!! I love it and can’t see anything that would make it better! It is very dramatic without being overdone. No nits!!!

Hi Patrick,

I can’t put into words what it is that I like about this, at least not yet.
But I do really like it!
Is that enough?

Nicely done!

Patrick: Please excuse my tardy response but this is pretty special IMO. Great play of light and shadow with the warm light being icing on a really fine cake. Well seen and superbly presented.>=))>

Patrick, this is great! The warm light does a fine job of showing off the twisty cypress trunk. I like the sensuousnesss of the twists and how they’re set off by the deep shadow.

And congratulations on the EP! Very well-deserved!

Unusual and very appealing image.
Nice EP! kudos!

Hey @Mark_Seaver, thanks so much for the EP! And @Diane_Miller and @Sandy_Richards-Brown thanks for your nice words. I guess this image is moving up the list for possible use in my upcoming show this fall.

Surely a show-stopper @patrick6. Agree with all the positives, and I especially like the tones. Congrats on the EP!

If this was an also-ran, we’d love to see the choices for the show!

Thanks @Diane_Miller . I did post one of the others I will use. It’s my “City at Dawn” from a few days earlier. One of those two will likely be the main image for the show. (I’m still deciding which one, so please give me your input if you have a moment.)

That one is fantastic too! I think it should depend on your muse, with maybe the likely preferences of the audience considered – if that is possible. I think this one is more “accessible” and maybe others would lead in a progression to less literal images? Or maybe its the other way around… I doubt there is really a right or wrong.
