Description

Happy Easter to all of my NPN friends. After more than twenty years this is still my favorite Easter image and always brings back fond memories. Chrissy and I had spent the whole day exploring the area north and west of Austin and were heading home from Marble Falls on FM 1431. This is a hilly winding narrow lightly travelled country road and we were still in our best snooping mode. We had never been on this route and there was still a couple of hours of daylight. Chrissy was driving when a local in a pickup came roaring up behind us. He was obviously in a hurry and showing little patience but there was no opportunity for him to pass. After several minutes Chrissy was getting pretty nervous and anxious and then I spotted a mailbox turnoff ahead that let us pull off and let him blast by. That’s when I looked to the left and saw that we were right at the entrance to Christ Our Savior Church and this scene. I might have spotted this anyway but the pull off made it sure. There are actually three full size crosses here and I have images of all three but this shot is far and away the best of the central cross. I’m thinking of making a dash out there in the next few days but I doubt I’ll have another divine appointment like this.>=))>

Specific Feedback

Taken in the last year of my film days in 2005. I still own the M7 and stashed away in my garage refrigerator are a few rolls of Velvia. All comments about the image and the occasion welcome.

Bill, Thank you. Happy Easter to you and your family.

Beautiful shot, Bill. The bluebells really make a solid foundation and I love how the cloth is slightly blowing in the wind. That really adds to the impact of the shot.
Happy Easter to you and yours.

That’s a lovely photo, and a great story to go with it. Happy Easter!
