Here Comes the Sun! (Neon Splendor Dahlia)

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This flower required some tweaking of the WB and tweaking of the oranges, yellows, and reds in Adobe Camera Raw. This dahlia variety glows! I use a beer bottle as a vase and the flower conceals the vase and I like the look of this image. The lighting is diffused shade from a window and no diffusion was used. The BG is black velvet.

Specific Feedback

I did not pull back the saturation because I wanted the final edit to provide the colors that my eyes see. What do you think?

Hi Jim! This is a beautiful dahlia and your capture is excellent. The colors make me want to go get some of these tubers for my garden. Your lighting is excellent as well, and the black background really makes the flower pop. Well done!

Glorious!! With the side lighting you have captured wonderful tonal detail and fabulous color! I love the floating presentation – no nits, not even any wonder-if suggestions!

I love the side lighting on this flower, Jim, and the saturation works for me. Beautiful job.

Jim: Had to don the :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: to look at this. Strikingly beautiful flower superbly captured, processed and presented. Inquiring minds do wonder if the beer was consumed before shooting ? Exceptionally nice work. >=))>

Thank you @Steve_Kennedy , @Diane_Miller , @Dennis_Plank , and @Bill_Fach for your critiques. @Bill_Fach , somehow the bottle is empty before filling with rain water  …Jim
