Hidden Wall Flower

Image Description

As we’ve all seen some oddities in the outback many of which are floral items seemingly growing out of solid rock. Obviously the roots are making contact with nutrients at some point.
Out of the many I’d encountered over the years this one was a bit out of the norm for sure. The barren boulder located in this remote dry wash here was about 40 feet tall and in the middle of it was this small opening with a tiny juniper poking out of it. The indention in it’s side was almost like a small-show-case for the plant with the only lichen on the boulder providing an outline for the scene.

Paul: What a great find and what a tale as well. Hard to figure how even a seed got in just the right spot and then for the roots to find pay dirt if you will. Most excellent. >=))>

Life always finds a way, doesn’t it. This works for me. I love the tiny tree and its little garden.

Nicely done, Paul, and with a view camera to boot!

Paul, this is a great find and definitely shows how life survives in unusual places. That little Juniper looks to have been around for a while with the thickness of it’s trunk. The bit of grass beside it also speaks to there being a bit of soil in that crevice.

@Bill_Fach @Preston_Birdwell @Mark_Seaver @Kris_Smith…Thank you each for your reviews and comments on this small scene. Each of your points on the survival ability was my exact thoughts when I found this juniper holding on without a noticeable life support source…nature has a away of making things work… :star_struck:
The best to all of you and everyone at NPN with the upcoming T-Day Holiday too. Be safe out there… :+1:
