Hoffman's Checkerspot

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Trinity Alps, Weaverville, CA
The Hoffman’s checkerspot has a very limited range. It occurs in a long, narrow band along the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Mountains in the U.S. above 1000 feet , and into southern British Columbia.
It’s a small butterfly, with a wingspan of 1.25-1.75 inches.
One of my first uses of the articulating LCD to avoid getting down on the ground.
Thankfully, a long flower stem and a bare patch of blue sky behind, after I gently bent some of the other flowers down.

Sandy: Great capture of the butterfly and perch and the soft yellow FG along with the nice blue sky makes this really special. Exceptionally good shot. :+1: :+1:>=))>

Sandy, this is an exceptionally good shot. Everything @Bill_Fach said.

Excellent, Sandy. A great POV and perfect depth of field. I really like the background you were able to get.

Viewing the thumbnaiI I thought the wings were closer to the camera - optical illusion. For me (only!) there’s a bit too much BG yellow so I’d crop up horizontally to the stalk. Great to find an uncommon butterfly.
