Last fall I fund the Great Blue looking over the inlet pond at Harkness Memorial State Park, Waterford, CT. The Blue made three flights around the pond and each time came back to this perch.

Technical Details
Canon R5, Canon 100-500mm & 1.4ext, f10, 700mm, -1.3EV, ISO 2000. The shot is cropped by 50% and I blurred and brought down the background in DXO PhotoLab 6. I also increase the contrast and color vibrancy.
A very nice pose and I like the background, Peter. I’m not familiar with DXO’s capabilities, but if you could bring up just the shadows in the heron a bit, I think it would pop from the background quite a bit more.

I played with just bring up the overall black and was not happy with that , so used a local brush on the Blue and just adjusted it’s blacks. This is as high as was conferrable with bring up the Great Blue blacks.
