Beautiful image Michael! You nailed the exposure with the water movement and splash against the ice. The water draining down off the sand visually extends the lines of the waves coming in. Very nicely composed. The detail in the ice is exquisite. I would remove the rocks at the bottom, the one big one two tiny ones left of center and the two little ones in the very LRC, they are slightly OOF and I don’t think add to thee image. My only other little nit, being very picky, is the darker parts of the water above the Nic distract a bit, I might be tempted to try and lighten the up to de-accentuate them or maybe even a slight crop off the top. Excellent work!
I really like it. Duplicate the image and try it in B&W. Sometimes the conversion is even better than you imagined. Please repost without the rocks. Thanks !
Excellent, Michael. Perfect ss. I agree about the rocks, only because they’re oof. If they were in focus, I wouldn’t mind them. The FG and BG are also a little oof, but no big deal since they are minor players in the image and the ice and waves are the stars of the show. About a B&W, I would be inclined to leave it in color. The blue is a nice tone and I think you would lose that little colored glow on the sand beneath the ice from the sun.
Michael: I’m an avowed color junkie so I like your take on the scene. Really good decisions on SS and exposure. The rock in the shadowed area in the LLC could go but the rest work for me. BTW, was this taken in Iceland and if so what time of year was this taken? Seeing icebergs on the beach is on my bucket list. Nice work. >=))>
I’m a big fan of this picture. The ice block fascinates me, and the details around it are also intriguing. The flowing water is captured beautifully. If I were asked to be a perfectionist, I’d probably soften the small ripples above the top of the ice block.
Overall, I think the picture is fantastic.
