About This Image

This is a multiple exposure. I was in what’s commonly called a “wash” around here but what most people call an arroyo.

Don: I love the color palette and the concept. The difference in intensity of the dense growth on the top to the more sparse distribution on the bottom immediately caught my attention. Not sure if I have a preference for one half over the other but the tension I sense puzzles me. I think I might prefer to see a bit more definition in the large branches on the top the way it shows up on the bottom. I’m going to come back to this after others comment to see if they are noting the same thing. >=))>

Bill, I think I see what you mean. If so, it’s baked into the multiple exposure.

Don,

Been meaning to chime in here. I’m with Bill on the color palette. The combo of colors are distinct and so very pleasing to the eye. They also help the eye explore the frame.

I think the combo of scenes for the multiple exposure also blend and work very nicely.

Now I don’t see a tension per se, but my suggestion might feel that way. And this is just me, but with most abstract where there is repeated or similar patterns/effects, I sometimes think there’s often too much information. Combine that with my not so favorable opinion of the tall digital format, my suggestion would be a crop of some choice. Of course I wouldn’t want to lose any of the colors, and also retain some of the branch structure… And again, a personal choice and I recall correctly, you like the 3:2 ration… and I’m the 4:5 guy… so take my suggestion with a grain of salt. Here’s what I’m thinking:
