I so enjoy your forest scenes as I sit here in hot California. Your forests always look cool, even if they’re not. This one is well framed, with those reddish foreground trees giving a nice sense of depth.
Those red leaves do frame in the top nicely, and help guide the eye to the beautiful backdrop of green. I really enjoy the “hanging” effect that a lot of those branches have.
This does feel a bit busy though, and I wonder if a little more contrast would add a bit of depth and help the eye roam deeper into the image? Maybe not. Just for the fun of comparison, here’s a quick and dirty run with that idea:
It’s a bit hypocritical of me to suggest, since I use one less than I should, but I wonder if a polarizer could have reduced the leaf glare a little?
Hi Ben,
Somehow or other I missed your wonderful image on the first go round. I particularly like the way the rust colored leaves along the top edge directs the viewer to all that green lushness of the BG woodland. The light looks to be very challenging, but you handled it beautifully. I am not sure why, but for some reason the highlights on the leaves remind me of a light misty rain. I think the tweak @John_Williams made with the contrast elevated an already beautiful image another notch. It was a treat getting two haikus instead of one with your images. Very nicely done.
