Description
Well, a little longer after the rain than I would have preferred, but there were a few drops left. Shot in a friend’s garden yesterday.

Technical Details
Partial focus stack, holding my breath with a slight breeze. Very minimal adjustments in LR and the result of the stack taken into PS for minor retouching.

Simple and delicate. That touch of a water drop is a nice element - it’s such a different texture and really gives a sense of freshness. Stack looks good in my once-over and the colors are so harmonious. It’s tough to shoot irises simply because they are so big and oddly shaped so this slice gives us just enough to think about and imagine.
Diane: You’ve extracted a beautiful part of this flower and the water drops are a nice bonus. Having sharp focus on the beard is critical for iris shots IMO and you achieved that brilliantly. Top notch image in every way. >=))>
Thanks, @Kris_Smith, @Gill_Vanderlip and @Bill_Fach! The beards on this bloom were messy, all three, and it was the only open bloom on the plant. Was some large insect burrowing around in it? And I’ve never noticed before the tip at the end of the beard. Are they all like that? I have a few still blooming – will go out and have a look when it warms up a bit. It was clear last night and it’s 41 degrees up here in our little holler – brrrr. My weather app says it’s 51 down in town.
Beautiful capture Diane. I’ve seen that tip on some varieties before. Great focus stack and processing.
I just spent the last three mornings hitting a local Iris garden…they have literally hundreds of varieties of Iris and Columbine. A must visit every year. This year I had a true macro lens and wow, that opened up the composition possibilities.
Thanks, @David_Bostock! Waiting eagerly to see what you came up with! I seem to be stuck in a rut with Iris. (And probably everything else…) I have a few others from the last couple of weeks to post but none quite lived up to my expectations.
