Description

I got this male dark-eyed junco out back recently and I like how the BG colors go with the subject’s colors, and I like the pose.

You certainly have a good one here Dave. I see you needed a really high iso but you have handled the noise well. Since it is perched, you may not need 1/2500 of a second. I suppose the F9 is because of the TC
Re Background - I would try darkening the brighter areas to make the junco more prominent

I love the pose with its connection to the viewer

Re composition, i would shave off some on the left

Dark birds are challenging and you have done a nice job!

Good over the shoulder pose and I like the background light around the junco. It does look a bit over sharpened, perhaps from the NR process.

Nice pose and I like the perch and background, but something is definitely awry with noise reduction in this one, Dave. The perch and parts of the bird have no texture at all, while other parts of the bird appear quite noisy. Unfortunately, I’m not sure what’s causing it, but I’m almost sure it’s in the noise reduction/sharpening you’re using.

Dave - excellent pose and eye here. Something glitchy with the processing, though…

Hi Dave, nice over the shoulder look. Details are smoothed out on the bird and perch. I’d take another look at the post processing on this one.

This is excellent lighting and a great look from this junco Dave.
