Juvenile Postal Worker

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I came upon this handsome red-tail on the roadside recently. It was busy looking for lunch and it ignored me (not usually the case)

Specific Feedback

Cropping? I was a little torn oh how to crop this. Body angling one way, head turned the other so I split the differenced and pretty much centered it. What say you?

Technical Details

Z9, 180-600 lens, Nikon 1.4 TC, 1/3200th, f 8.5, 870mm, ISO 1400, hand held.

The crop works for me, Dave. Was this a very large crop? There seems to be a bit of loss of fine feather detail either due to something like that or perhaps your jpeg conversion quality setting. It’s still a very nice image of this hawk and when they’re perched up high like that, it’s always nice to get them looking down like this.

Nice look at the hawk, Dave and I like the pose with the downward gaze.

Hi Dave
I love the head turn and eye contact. The center framing works, but I would like to see it pushed over to the left a bit.
