Red-tail Takeoff

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I got this handsome guy taking off and in the wings up position. I like the pose, and thought it laid the best cropped vertically.

Specific Feedback

Does is work cropped this way? More meat needed on the left?

Beautiful wing position, Dave. A fine image.

A little more room on the left would be good, but this crop works fine. Excellent detail and wing position, Dave

How lovely - the wing position especially

If you have the real estate on your left, I wonder how this will look in landscape mode

Dave, really great moment with the wings up and quite sharp handheld at 1260mm! The image does seem a little static with the bird centered and not enough room to move into. A little more room to the left would allow the bird to fly into the space in front of it.

I assume you selected the bird and processed the sky separately. I see a few places in the tail, above the tail, and above the head where the sky colors vary at the edges of the feathers.

Very impressive capture though at that focal length.

Give the hawk a little more room on the left as my only suggestion. Wing position and patterned plumage make this a wonderful flight shot…Jim
